David Rafferty is a happy-go-lucky Corporal at the Tucker Street [police] substation in Burlington, North Carolina. He's the subject of many women's fantasies...young, handsome, available, and looks great in a uniform.

Not one for keeping his opinions to himself, David frequently puts boss, Kevin Slater in his place with his keen observations on every subject from cars and music to Chinese food to women. Two women that he finds particularly interesting are Jess Mitchell, the new forensic psychologist working in his office, and her best friend, Niki Shannon. Though he has no desire to be tied down at this stage in his life, one of these women grabs his attention and won't let go.
