Kevin Slater is the epitome of the alpha male. He’s quite possessive and protective of the ones he loves, almost to a fault. He’s aggressive, but controlled…calm, cool, and collected…though he’s terrible at hiding his feelings from those who know him best, namely, his younger sister, Samantha. His hobbies include collecting train memorabilia, fishing, keeping his vehicles in pristine condition, playing the guitar, and home improvements. He loves country music and doesn’t mind spoiling the lady in his life, though he demands that she not tell anyone what a softie he is and risk ruining his bad-ass reputation.

Born Kevin Reese Slater to Charles and Terese Slater on November 11, 1972, he was the only son sandwiched between twin older sisters, Kate and Kinsey, and younger sister, Samantha. The apple of his parents’ eye, he grew up on a farm in Littlefork, Minnesota, a map dot near the Canadian border, where he learned a good work ethic and developed an appreciation for the simpler side of life.

As a child, he was especially close to his grandfather, Bradley, who spent countless Saturday mornings taking his grandson to the train yard. This time spent together fostered in the boy a love of locomotives, which continues to this day. Growing up, Kevin spent much of his free time, as many boys do, outdoors hiking and fishing. As a teen, he played football and broke many a girl’s heart, and later dove into restoring his pride and joy…The Beast…a red, 1970 Ford Mustang, Mach I edition.

Upon graduating from high school, Kevin pulled a six-year stint in the Army where he trained as a paratrooper before being deployed in the first Gulf War. His last five years as a soldier were spent as an MP (military police). He later furthered his police career in Minneapolis. By that time, younger sister, Samantha, had graduated high school and moved on to the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis. Overprotective of her, big brother Kevin wouldn’t hear of her partying it up in a college dormitory and moved her in with him where he could watch over her every move.

As with many close-knit families, Kevin is close to his mother, sisters, and grandmother, Eleanor. Heartbroken at the deaths of his father in 2001 and beloved grandfather in 2002, he made drastic changes in his life beginning with a change of locale to Burlington, North Carolina where life moves at a much slower pace. He is currently a Staff-Sergeant with the Burlington Police Department where he heads up the Tucker Street substation.

Oozing sex appeal with his sun-bleached, golden hair, amber eyes, and a wicked mustache that fantasies are made of, women are drawn to him. With his good looks and rock-hard body, he could easily be the player that his friends and co-workers believe him to be. However, he usually chooses work over play…until he meets the one woman that he can’t walk away from.
