Dr. Gavin McGuiness
Dangerous Heat

5'10", 165 lb
age 56
Medium build with salt & pepper hair

Dr. Gavin McGuiness is a licensed clinical psychiatrist who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of abnormal psychoses and he's a world-renowned and respected specialist on the criminal mind...the go-to guy for anyone interested in criminal psychology. In addition, he's the Director of the forensic studies program at Alliant International University in Los Angeles, California. He's been at it for nearly thirty years. Very few people know more about the criminal mind than Dr. McGuiness. He's been courted by major universities, hospitals, and even the Behavioral Analysis Unit at the FBI, though he's respectfully declined every offer. He stays on retainer with the LAPD and is frequently asked to be an expert witness by prosecutors and defense attorneys alike.

Rarely wrong, Gavin is confident in his knowledge and in his abilities as a profiler and in predicting deviant behavior...until his conclusions are challenged by a young woman half his age, and a former student, no less. Jess Mitchell was brought in Captain Rob Kurtis of the LAPD to rerite Gavin's profile of Cinderella, though Gavin was not informed of this. Gavin believes that his protégée is there to aid him. Their conflicting opinions over major details threaten to derail the entire case, and leave Jess' husband, Kevin Slater, and Rob scratching their heads trying to figure out a way to bring the mentor and his brilliant, former student to the same page. They just may have their work cut out for them. Will they all find a way to work together and catch a killer before another victim is lost?

Read Dangerous Heat to find out.

Note: Readers of Dangerous Obsession may remember that Gavin McGuiness was one of Jess Mitchell's professors from grad school and her mentor, though his part was so brief that he wasn't considered even a minor character and thus will not confuse those who have not yet read DO.
