Chuck Edwards A tall and jolly man with slightly thinning hair and a ruddy complexion, 45-year old Chuck Edwards, is not what one might picture as the head law man in a small, conservative town. But when that town is home to 5,000 rowdy colege students, you can imagine why this former SBI agent was hand-picked to be the town of Elon's Chief of Police. Hailing from a small village in the North Carolina mountains, Chuck was raised with conservative values that grew slightly more liberal upon moving to Burlington to take on the challenge of being a police officer. An intelligent and capable officer, he made Detective quickly and was partnered with Dean Johansen upon the death of Dean's friend and former partner, John Mitchell. The pair quickly had the high-profile Blanche Taylor Moore arsenic-poisoning case thrust upon them, which they solved in record time. A handful of smaller cases later, Chuck pursued a position with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, where he refined his investigative skills and had the opportunity to travel and live all over the state, during which time, he also met and married his wife. But Chuck didn't forget the good people of Alamance County. Several years later, when the town of Elon needed a police chief, he jumped at the opportunity to settle permanently and raise a family in an area that he had grown to love years earlier. To this day, he remains good friends with fellow police chief and former partner, Dean Johansen, and he holds a special place in his heart for Dean's daughter, kindred spirit and current SBI profiler, Jess Mitchell, who he says he'd be chasing if he were twenty years younger and there were no Mrs. Chuck in the picture. |
